When Women Gather Magick Happens

Women are magical creatures. Unbelievably. Incredibly. Magical. I'll remind you why:

Just imagine....there was a time before science and our (erroneous) human belief that we have the concrete answers to absolutely everything. A time when women miraculously grew within their own bodies–and then magically expelled from these bodies–new, tiny humans.

Talk about magick. Let's just take a moment to wonder at this incredible technology we're each carrying around on the daily. Thank you, ______. (Fill in the blank: God, Creator, Great Mystery, Source, whoever made this magical life possible for you.)

I mean, can you think of a Creator communicating to the world in a more concrete or direct way to show that we women are magical beings? Even with our (supposed) complete and absolute understanding of how conception and birth works, why should that take even one iota of the magic away from women?

Do I Need to Be a Mother to Be Initiated?

No, you don't have to be a mother to create from this seat of creation within your own miraculous body. All women are creatrixes. We are the dreamers. We are the visionaries. We are constantly, without even knowing it, in a cyclical relationship flowing with the MOON. Within our own body, we move through a complete year each month. A death and rebirth process happens within each of us...the winter is when we bleed, the spring is the time when our bodies ready to welcome new life, the summer is our ovulation (the peak of our cycle), and the fall, is when we prepare to move into the death process again.

When women gather regularly, not only do their bodies cycle with the moon, but they begin to cycle with one another. This is where the tradition of the Red Tent began....some cultures encouraged and expected bleeding women to gather monthly in a time of rest and ritual centered on resting, bonding, and sharing wisdom.

“In cultures where women were seen as good, menstruation was seen as something special,” notes Alexandra Pope, founder of Red School and co-author of Wild Power. “In cultures where women were a threat, menstruation was demonised.”

Because when women gather together, their individual magic is amplified. When women gather, alchemy is real. An alchemist is interested in transmutation, in turning base elements to gold. Maybe, to those of us who still believe in magic, this is possible literally; it's certainly possible emotionally/energetically/spiritually. In circle, in gatherings, women (bleeding or not bleeding, children or no children) attune to one another, creating a sort of resonance in our beings and amplifying each other's power through a synergistic, shared intention.

How to Amplify Your Magick:

In a few weeks, as the Autumnal Equinox approaches, I invite you to gather together in our local circle, join a circle near you, or start your own!

This year, we will gather on the International Day of Peace. We will be using the cleansing energy of fire to identify and remove obstacles on our path, focusing on generating peace from within, and allowing this radiating energy to ripple out, sending waves of healing to the collective.

You will leave feeling plugged into your magick, into a community of women who believe it's their birthright to thrive, and with a full belly....because, well, when we finish circling, we potluck! Yum.

Bring your whole family and a nourishing dish to share. Partners will take the lead with watching the little ones, so no babysitter required.
